For the past three years at least, all 100 percentilers in Common Admission Test (CAT) have been from an engineering background. Though in the in Previous year (CAT 15) one of the candidates with a perfect score was a non-engineer. Also, the overall performance of women candidates has improved. Compared to previous year where only one woman applicant got a perfect score, CAT 2016 saw more women applicants who scored above 95 percentile or even 99 percentile.
CAT (Common Admission Test) which is a management aptitude test that allows aspiring candidates to seek admission into any of the IIMs and other good B-schools in the country. This, year, CAT 2016 exam was conducted by IIM Bangalore for admission to the academic session 2017-2018.. This time the exam was difficult for both the slots in comparison to the previous year. Giving more emphasizes on the Data Interpretation and logical reasoning section (DR & LI), which contained 32 questions. Whereas, the Verbal and RC (Reading Comprehension) section was quite lengthy. The paper included both multiple and non-multiple choice type questions. Students were given 60 minutes for each section. With experts like Prof SK Agarwal suggested CAT aspirants to focus on accuracy rather than going for challenging and tedious questions.
CAT Scores are used by the institutes with parameters i.e academic performance, work experience, and other similar inputs for short listing candidates for the final selections. Since each IIM is independent to mandate their own eligibility criteria and follow different selection processes, so candidates can check websites of each institute for its specific requirements.
