Special Investigation Team (SIT) Formed by Telangana

The Telangana government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on March 6, 2019. The SIT will look into complaints of data theft of the electoral rolls. The nine member SIT is headed by Inspector General Stephen Raveendra who is the West Zone in-charge IG. In total, the team comprises of three IPS officers, four DSP rank officers and two inspectors.

India Presents Proof of Pakistan Using F-16 Planes

India has given proof to the US of the use of F-16 fighter jets by Pakistan in the recent aerial attacks of February 27, 2019. Pakistan is in breach of its agreement with US for using F-16s against another country.

New Five Year Industrial Policy in Maharashtra

The Industrial Policy 2019 was approved by State Cabinet of Maharashtra on March 5, 2019. Unveiled by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, the policy comes into effect from April 1, 2019. The new Industrial Policy aims to attract investments worth 10 lakh crore rupees and create nearly 40 lakh jobs by 2023-24.

Sanitation Survey Claims 93% Rural Indians have Access to Toilets

The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation released an interim report of the National Annual Rural Sanitation Survey 2018-2019 on March 5, 2019. The survey reveals that under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, 93.1% of rural Indians now have access to toilets and 90.7% of villages are open-defecation free (ODF). The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan intends to make the country open defecation free by October 2, 2019.

‘One Nation One Card’ Launched by PM

PM Narendra Modi launched the ‘One Nation One Card’ at a function in Ahmedabad on March 4, 2019. The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is a first of its kind in India. A multipurpose RuPay card, it can be used for payments across all segments including metro, bus, suburban railways, toll, parking, smart city and retail.

Jamaat-e-Islami of J&K Banned for Five Years

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced a ban of five years on the religio-political organisation Jamaat-e-Islami of Jammu & Kashmir, on February 28, 2019. The ban has been imposed under the anti-terror law based on the findings that the organisation was in close touch with militant outfits.
