First Indian ISSF Vice President
The president of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Raninder Singh became the first Indian Vice President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) on December 1, 2018. Vladimir Lisin, of Russia, was elected as the seventh president of ISSF.
Abhinav Bindra Honoured at ISSF General Assembly
The Olympic gold medallist was honoured with the coveted ISSF Blue Cross at the 68th ISSF General Assembly held in Munich, Germany on November 30, 2018. It is the highest recognition conferred by the parent body of international shooting and Abhinav Bindra is the first Indian to receive it.
2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup
The 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup field hockey tournament is being held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India from November 28 to December 16 2018. In the first match of the day, Canada and South Africa played a 1-1 draw on December 2, 2018. On the same day, India and Belgium finished on a 2-2 score. All four teams will now play after a six-day break on December 8, 2018. India will take on Canada and Belgium will face South Africa.
Age Fraud to Result in Two-year Ban by BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that a cricketer guilty of age fraud will be barred from all its recognised tournaments for a period of two years. The cricketing body released a statement on November 27, 2018.
